Sinodun Chapter No 548 - Report : 27th September 2019
On Friday 27th September 2019, a meeting was held at The Cosenors House, Abingdon. There were 25 present at the meeting, including the District Recorder, Ill. Bro. Tony Rees 32°. In addition the following visitors were also present; Ill. Bros. Stephen Ellner 30° and Vince Pearson 30°, together with E&P Bro. Lyn Austen 18°.
Following the opening of the Chapter by the Most Wise Sovereign, E&P Bro. Keith Rogers 18°, the minutes of the last regular meeting held on 26th April 2019, were confirmed as a true record and signed by the MWS.
The MWS then carried out a very good Perfection Ceremony Rehearsal, with E&P Bro. Brian Page 18°acting as candidate, ably assisted by E&P Bro. Jim Flinn 18° giving the explanation and presentation of the Collar, Signs and Words. The District Recorder delivered the Accolade.
There being no other nominations, the Most Wise Sovereign declared that the following Princes would occupy the following offices for the ensuing year:
MWS – E&P Bro. James Flinn 18°
Treasurer – E&P Bro. Ken Jones 18°
Accounts Examiners –E&P Bros. Keith Rogers 18° and Philip Mott 18°
Standing Committee – The brethren to be appointed to the offices of Marshal and Raphael
Benevolent Association – E&P Bros. Keith Rogers 18° was added to the Recorder, Treasurer, and Almoner, as representatives
The Treasurer, E&P Bro. Ken Jones, gave notice of motion to impose a levy of £5.00 to the current year’s subscriptions
The District Recorder, Ill. Bro. Tony Rees 32°, presented E&P Bro. Brian Page 18° with his Supreme Council Certificate
The Almoners report was submitted, following which Alms were collected.
On the Risings, the Recorder delivered an appraisal of all correspondence received since the last meeting, including apologies for absence from the Inspector General, V.Ill. Bro. Roy Stone 33° and notice of the Church Service to be held at Wokingham on Sunday 27th October. The Recorder also announced the resignations of Ill. Bro. Hugh Parry 30° and E&P Bro. Michael Badcock 18°. The District Recorder appealed to the Princes to support the Church Service as much as possible and drew attention to the change of date of next year’s Family Lunch to Saturday 13th June. He also drew attention to the data page in the recently circulated Berkshire Calendar booklet which showed a slight reduction in membership and stressed the need for all those who enjoy the Order to be vigilant in looking for suitable candidates.
The Third Point was conducted by the Most Wise Sovereign, following which he closed the Chapter.
The evening was concluded with an excellent and harmonious festive board, during which the usual toasts were honoured.
