St Cecilia Chapter No 811 - Report : 06th Sept 2019
On Friday 6th September 2019, a meeting was held at the Berkshire Masonic Centre, Sindlesham. There were 21 present at the meeting, including the District Recorder, Ill\Bro. Tony Rees 32° and 7 guests.
Following the opening of the Chapter by E&P Bro. Richard Morrell 18°, the minutes of the last regular meeting held on 18th February 2019, were confirmed as a true record and signed by the MWS.
A perfection ceremony was carried out for Bro. Wayne Daley respectively by Ill\Bro. Roger Jones 30° (Intermediate Degrees) E&P Bro. Richard Morrell 18° (First Point) Ill\Bro. Lindsay Maskell 30° (Second Point). The explanation of the Emblems, Signs and Words, was given by E&P Bro. Colin Payne 18°. The District Recorder delivered the Accolade. Ill\Bros. David Jarvis 32°, Graham Seeman 31°, and Bill Rhymes 31° acted as ADC, Marshal, and Captain of the Guard respectively and E& P Bro. Lyn Austen 18° acted as Herald.
The MWS then invested Ill\Bro. Roger Jones 30° as 2nd General, E&P Bro. David Lawrenson 18° as Almoner, and E&P Bro. Simon Williams 18° as Steward, all of whom had been unavoidably absent at the Enthronement meeting. E&P Bros. Simon Tull 18° (Captain of the Guard) and John Knox 18° (Steward) not present at this meeting would be invested on a future occasion.
Pursuant to a notice of motion given tha the meeting on 18th February 2019, Ill\Bro. Cyril Corbett 30° was duly elected as an Honorary member of the Chapter, following a ballot.
The Almoners report was submitted, following which Alms were collected.
On the Risings, the Recorder, Ill\Bro. Les Matthews 31°, reported the forthcoming 30th Degree ceremony for E&P Bro. John MacNeil on 16th September. He also reminded the Princes about the Annual Berkshire District Church Service, to be held at Wokingham on Sunday 27th October and also drew attention to the Family Lunch next year moving to Saturday 13th June.
The District Recorder added that members attending the Church Service could be accompanied by their friends and family if they so wished and the afternoon tea afterwards was completely free of charge. He added that the Family Lunch had been moved to 13th June next year to avoid both of the May Bank Holidays and the PGM’s Reception.
Finally he drew the attention of the Princes to a slight drop in numbers for the District of Berkshire last year and reminded everybody that it was important for all members of the Rose Croix in Berkshire to look for suitable candidates to join our wonderful order. The perfection ceremony of an excellent candidate like Wayne Daley this evening had drawn this sharply into focus.
Apologies for absence were given for the Inspector General, V\Ill\Bro. Roy Stone 33° who was recovering from surgery; and Ill\Bros. Raymond Head 32°, Ian Holland 31°, Richard Wood 30°, E&P Bros. Aaron Lawson 18°, Paul Byron 18°, Simon Tull 18°, John Knox18°, John Patey 18°, Kevin Clarke 18°, and Clive Litten 18°.
The Third Point was conducted by Ill\Bro. Les Matthews 31°, following which the MWS, E&P Bro. Richard Morrell18°, closed the Chapter.
The evening was concluded with an excellent and harmonious festive board, during which the usual toasts were honoured.
