Donnington Castle Chapter No 856 - Report: 8th May 2019
On Wednesday 8th May 2019, the Inspector General, V\Ill\Bro. Roy Stone 33° and the District Recorder, Ill\Bro. Tony Rees 31°, attended the meeting held at the Masonic Centre, London Road, Newbury. There were 42 in attendance, including 11 guests, namely Ill\Bros. Raymond Head 32°( MW1075),Tony Lewis 31°(613), Rod Bancroft 31°(117), Rodney Aldridge 30° (548)) and E & P Bros. Neil Wiltshire 18°, (408), Roger Tomlinson 18° ( 613), Martin Cole 18° ( 613), Ray Sharp 18° ( 811), Ted Lewis 18°, ( 1165) and Clive Blackburn 18°,(1165), who were all most warmly welcomed by the MWS, E & P Bro. Mike Warner 18°.
The MWS offered the Baton to the Inspector General, which was graciously declined.
E &P Bro. Bob Elmes 18°, acted as Herald.
E & P Bro. John Kirkpatrick 18° proposed the minutes of the meeting held on 8th August 2018, be confirmed as a true record. This was seconded by E & P Bro. Mike Brown 18° and carried by the members.
The MWS then invested Ill\Bro. Stephen Ellner 30° as Recorder and E & P Bro. David Edmonds 18° as Capt of the Guard, both having been unavoidably absent from the Enthronement Meeting.
A Ballot was held in respect of Bro. Owen Peter Doe as a Candidate for Perfection, which proved in his favour.
The MWS then carried out a very good Perfection Ceremony for Bro. Owen Doe, ably assisted by Ill\Bro. Bill Rhymes 31°, Reception to the Intermediate Degrees, E & P Bro. John Kirkpatrick 18°, Intermediate Degrees, Ill\Bro. George Kirk 30°, Second Point and Ill\Bro. Ken Hayton 32°, explanation and presentation of the Collar, Signs and Words.
The IG carried out the Accolade.
A Ballot was held for conferring Honorary Membership on E & P Bro. Don Beaver 18°, which proved in his favour.
The Almoner, Ill\Bro. John Gilbert 30°, advised his report had been previously circulated to the members, following which the Alms were collected.
On the Risings, the Recorder delivered an appraisal of all correspondence received since the last meeting.
He also announced the District Recorder, Ill\Bro. Tony Rees 31°, would be promoted to the 32° on 4th June, which was met with warm applause. Ill\Bro. Tony suitably thanked the Brethren.
The Third Point, was conducted by Ill\Bro. Stephen Ellner 30°, following which the MWS closed the Chapter.
The evening was concluded with yet another excellent meal at the Old Mill Hotel, enjoyed in the most convivial atmosphere, where the usual Toasts were honoured.
