Maidenhead Chapter No 613 - Report : 26th Apr 2019
On Friday 26th April 2019, a meeting was held at the Berkshire Masonic Centre, Sindlesham. There were 25 present at the meeting, including the District Recorder, Ill. Bro. Tony Rees 31° and 9 guests.
Following the opening of the Chapter by The Most Wise Sovereign, E&P Bro. Bob Britten 18°, he announced that since the last regular meeting, E & P Bro. David Barham 18°, had been called to the Grand Chapter Above and asked Ill. Bro. Tony Lewis 31° to deliver a short Eulogy, following which the Brethren stood in silence in respect of departed merit.
The minutes of the last regular meeting held on 26th October 2018, were then confirmed as a true record and signed by the MWS.
The MWS then invested Ill. Bro. Ted Dugdale 32°, who had been unavoidably absent at the Enthronement meeting, as Almoner.
Pursuant to the Notice of Motion given at the previous meeting, Ill. Bro. Tony Lewis proposed and Ill. Bro. Len Starling seconded, that E&P Bro Norman Moulsley 18° be elected an Honorary Member of the Chapter. The ballot proved in favour of E&P Bro. Norman Moulsley.
The brethren then attended to a Lecture entitled “Perfection in Perspective” written by M. P. Bro. the Revd Canon Richard Tydeman 33°, a past Sovereign Grand Commander. This was read by Ill. Bro. Bruce McKenzie-Boyle, and was well received by the Princes.
A written ballot was taken and E&P Bro. Roger Tomlinson 18° and Ill. Bro. David Arnold 31° were duly elected as Most Wise Sovereign and Treasurer respectively for the ensuing year
The Almoner’s report was submitted, following which Alms were collected. Following a proposal by the Treasurer, the Chapter voted unanimously to donate £50.00 to the British Heart Foundation in memory of E&P Bro. David Barham 18°
On the Risings, the Recorder delivered an appraisal of all correspondence received since the last meeting, including notice of the Administration Meeting to be held at Sindlesham on Thursday 9th May and the Church Service to be held at Wokingham on Sunday 27th October. The District Recorder gave apologies for absence for the Inspector General, V.Ill. Bro. Roy Stone 33°, who was attending another Berkshire Rose Croix Chapter meeting. The Recorder announced with sadness the resignation from the Chapter of E&P Bro. Tim Oliver 18° and he had written to Tim conveying the Chapter’s good wishes and assuring him of a warm welcome should he be able to return to the Chapter.
The Third Point was conducted by E&P Bro. Bob Britten 18°, following which he closed the Chapter.
The evening was concluded with an excellent and harmonious festive board, during which the usual toasts were honoured.
