Bombay Chapter No 18 - Report : 01st March 2018
On Friday 1st March 2019, the Inspector General, V\Ill\Bro. Roy Stone 33°, attended the meeting held at the Berkshire Masonic Centre, Sindlesham.
There were some 30 in attendance, including seven guests, namely, Ill\Bros. Les Langley 31° (252), David Arnold 31° (613), Jimmy Edmundson 30° (613), Lionel Voke 30° (856), Lindsay Maskell 30° (811) and E & P Bros. Howard Martin 18° (252) & Tony Trigg 18° (533).
The District Recorder, Ill\Bro. Tony Rees 31°, had tendered his apologies for absence, he was on holiday in Australia, celebrating with the family the arrival of a new Grand Daughter.
Following the opening, the MWS E & P Bro. Martin Wright 18°, warmly welcomed the IG and visiting Brethren. He offered the IG the Baton of the Chapter, which was graciously declined.
The minutes of the meeting held on 28th September 2018 and the Emergency Meeting held on 18th December 2018, having been circulated to all the members, were confirmed as a true record and signed by the MWS.
The MWS then invested the Officers unavoidably absent at the Enthronement Meeting, namely:
a) E & P Bro. Andrew Ferguson 18° Herald
b) E & P Bro. John Pegler 18° Outer Guard
The Treasurer, Ill\Bro. Allan Lines 30°, submitted the accounts for y/e 31st May 2018. The Recorder, Ill\Bro. John Machray 30°, proposed the adoption of the accounts, together with a vote of thanks to the Treasurer and Examiners. This was seconded by Ill\Bro. Rev’d Michael Seymour-Jones 31° and carried by the members.
There then followed a demonstration of the Perfection Ceremony, by the MWS ably assisted by E & P Bro. Douglas Spencer 18°, the Intermediate Degrees, Ill\Bro. Graham McGowan-Smyth 32°, the Second Point and E & P Bro. John Cooley 18°, the explanation of the Collar, Signs & Words. E & P Bro. Terry Barber 18°, acted as the Candidate.
The IG carried out the Accolade.
The IG then presented a Supreme Council certificate to E & P Bro. John Brunt 18°.
The Recorder, on behalf of Ill\Bro. David Jarvis 32 (very sore throat) gave Notice of Motion that at the next regular meeting he will propose the following Charity donations:
£1000.00 to the RWPGM 2023 Festival appeal
£500.00 to the Mobile Prostate Cancer Unit
£250.00 to the Parkinson’s Charity
The Almoner, E & P Bro. John Ferguson 18°, submitted his report, which included an update on IllBros. Mike Bain 30°, following which the Alms were collected.
On the Risings, the Recorder delivered an appraisal of all correspondence received from Supreme Council and the District Recorder.
The Third Point was conducted by the Inspector General, following which the Chapter was closed by the MWS.
The evening was concluded with yet another excellent meal, enjoyed in the most convivial atmosphere, where the usual Toasts were honoured.
