Thames & Chiltern Chapter No 1075 - Report : 10th January 2019
On Thursday 10th January 2019, the Inspector General, V\Ill\Bro. Roy Stone 33°, attended the meeting held at the Berkshire Masonic Centre, Sindlesham.. There were some 40 in attendance, including numerous guests, who were all warmly welcomed by the MWS. The DR, Ill\Bro. Tony Rees 31°, was unavoidably absent, returning from Australia at that time.
Ill\Bro. Graham McGowan-Smyth 32°, acted as ADC.
Following the opening, the MWS, Ill\Bro. Raymond Head 32° , welcomed the Inspector General, offered him the Baton which was graciously declined.
Ill\Bro. Brian Cook 30° proposed the minutes of the meeting held on 7th July 2018, be confirmed as a true record. This was seconded by Ill\Bro. David Jarvis 32° and carried by the members.
The MWS then invested Ill\Bros. Michael Woolford 31° as First General and Graham McGowan-Smyth 32° as Steward, both having been unavoidably absent from the Enthronement meeting.
The MWS declared the following:
a) Ill\Bro. William Rhymes 31°, as MWS for the ensuing year
b) Ill\Bro. Richard Olliver 30°, as Treasurer for the ensuing year.
The Recorder, Ill\Bro.John Machray 30°, proposed Ill\Bros. Robert Faulkner 32° and David Lambton 31°, as Examiners for the ensuing year. This was seconded by Ill\Bro. Brian Cook 30° and carried by the members.
The MWS then formally welcomed as Joining Members, Ill\Bros. Alan Lines 30° and Dr. Matthew Coward 30° and presented them with a copy of the Bye-laws. Both had been unavoidably absent from the Enthronement meeting.
A ballot was then held in respect of Ill\Bros. Martin Peters 30°, Steve Bullett 30° and Graham Fields 30°, to become Joining Members, which proved in their favour. The MWS then formally welcomed Ill\Bros. Martin and Graham, presenting them with a copy of the Bye-laws. Ill\Bro. Steve was unavoidably absent.
The MWS and Inspector General then delivered a “Commentary on the Intermediate Degrees” ably assisted by Ill\Bro. Vic Bickers 30° as Marshall and E & P Bro. Howard Martin 18°, who acted as the Candidate. This was very well received and rewarded with a generous round of applause.
The Alms were collected.
On the Risings, the Recorder delivered an appraisal of all correspondence received since the last meeting. He also announced with regret the resignation of Ill\Bro. John Rigby 32°, on health grounds.
The Third Point was conducted by the MWS, following which the Chapter was closed.
The evening was concluded with yet another excellent meal, enjoyed in the most convivial atmosphere, where the usual Toasts were honoured.
