St Cecelia Chapter No 811 - Report : 07th December 2018
On Friday 7th December 2018, a meeting was held at the Berkshire Masonic Centre, Sindlesham. There were 23 present, including the Inspector General, V\Ill\Bro. Roy Stone 33°, the District Recorder, Ill. Bro. Tony Rees 31° and 4 guests, namely Ill\Bros. Robert Faulkner 32°(117) & Lionel Higgins 30 (117), E &P Bros John Newman 18° (117) & Vince Pearson 18° (MWS of 1165)
The MWS, E&P Bro. John MacNeil 18°, opened the Chapter with Ill\Bro. Roger Jones 30°, acting as Second General, E & P Bros. Simon Tull 18°, acting as Marshall, Ray Sharp 18°, as Capt of the Guard and Simon Williams 18° as Outer Guard.
The MWS formally welcomed the Inspector General and visiting Brethren.
The minutes of the last regular meeting held on 7th September 2018, were confirmed as a true record and signed by the MWS.
A demonstration of the Perfection Ceremony was carried out by the MWS, ably assisted by Ill\Bro. Richard Wood 30° (Intermediate Degrees) Ill\Bro. Les Matthews 30° (First Point) explanation of the Collar, Signs and Words, by Ill\Bro. Roger Jones 30°. The Inspector General delivered the Accolade. E& P Bro. Ray Sharp 18° acted as the Candidate
E & P Bros Aaron Lawson 18° ( Marshall) and Paul Byron 18° ( Outer Guard), being unavoidably absent, the MWS would invest them at a future meeting.
The recipient being absent, the Supreme Council Certificate for E&P Bro. Paul Byron 18° would be presented on a future occasion.
There being only one nomination for MWS and Treasurer for the ensuing year, the MWS declared E & P Bro. Richard Morrell 18° as MWS Elect and Ill\Bro. Ian Holland 31° as Treasurer. Both thanked the members for their vote of confidence.
The Recorder, Ill\Bro. Les Matthews 30°, proposed Ill\Bro. Roger Jones 30° and E & P Bro. Ray Sharp 18° as the Accounts Examiners. This was seconded by Ill\Bro. Ray Duncan 30° and approved by the members.
The Almoners report was submitted, following which Alms were collected.
On the Risings, the Recorder, delivered an appraisal of all correspondence received from the Supreme Council and the District. Regrettably the Recorder announced the resignations of Ill\Bro. Cyril Corbett 30° and E & P Bro. Zak Goodwin 18°.
The Third Point was conducted by the MWS, E&P Bro. John MacNeil 18°, following which he closed the Chapter.
The evening was concluded with an excellent and harmonious festive board, during which Christmas Carols were sung and the usual toasts were honoured.
