Thames & Chiltern Chapter No 1075 - Report :   05th July 2018

 

On Thursday 5th July 2018, the Inspector General, V\Ill\Bro. Roy Stone 33°, presided as MWS over the meeting held at the Berkshire Masonic Centre, Sindlesham. There were some 60 in attendance, including numerous guests, who were all warmly welcomed by the MWS.

 

Ill\Bros. Ken Beard 32°, acted as Second General, and John Gilbert 30° as Marshall.

 

Following the opening, the MWS invited Ill\Bro. Lionel Voke 30°, to deliver a Eulogy in respect of Ill\Bro. John Webb 32°, a past Treasurer of the Chapter, who was called to the Grand Chapter above on 10th November 2017.

 

Ill\Bro. David Jarvis 32° proposed the minutes of the meeting held on 7th September 2018, be confirmed as a true record. This was seconded by Ill\Bro. Raymond Head 32° and carried by the members.

 

Ill\Bro. Raymond Head 32°, proposed the adoption of the Accounts for year ending 31st December 2017, coupled with a vote of thanks to the Treasurer and the Examiners. This was seconded by Ill\Bro. Richard Orton 31° and carried by the members.

 

The Recorder, Ill\Bro. Paul Ackland-Snow 30°, proposed an amendment to the By Laws, that the regular meetings be held on the first Thursday in July and the second Thursday in January. This was seconded by Ill\Bro. David Jarvis 32° and carried by the members.

 

Ill\Bro.Paul Ackland-Snow 30°, proposed Ill\Bro. John Stocker 32°, the past District Recorder, as an Honorary Member of the Chapter. This was seconded by Ill\Bro. Raymond Head 32° and carried by the members. The MWS formally congratulated Ill\Bro. John and thanked him for all he had done for the District over the last few years, before his move to Cornwall.

 

A token ballot was held between the MWS, First and Second Generals, for seven Joining Members, namely:

Ill\Bros.Anthony McGahan 32°, Lionel Voke 30°, Paul Wilding 30°, Andrew Taylor 30°, Peter Wood 30°, Alan Lines 30° ( absent) and Matthew Coward 30° ( absent).

 

The MWS formally welcomed those present and presented each with a copy of the By Laws.

 

The MWS expressed his grateful thanks to his officers, following which he carried out the Enthronement of Ill\Bro. Raymond Head 32° as the new MWS. The New MWS invested his officers and those elected by the Chapter, as follows:

The IPMWS, delivered the Address to the Chapter

 

The MWS, presented the Past MWS jewel to the IPMWS.

 

The Recorder, proposed the newly appointed Marshall and Raphael as members of the Chapter Standing Committee. This was seconded by the Treasurer and carried by the members.

 

The MWS, Ill\Bro. Raymond Head 32°, then delivered a most interesting paper on the Ladder and its Biblical connections, which was warmly applauded by those present.

 

The Alms were collected.

                                           

On the Risings, the Recorder delivered an appraisal of all correspondence received since the last meeting.

 

The Treasurer proposed the sum of £500 be donated to the RWPGM 2023 Festival Appeal. This was seconded by Ill\Bro. Michael Weeden 32° and carried by the members. The MWS presented the cheque to the RWPGM at the Festive Board.

 

The Almoner gave a brief report, which included an update on Ill\Bro. Mike Bain 30°

 

The Third Point was conducted by the MWS, following which the Chapter was closed.

 

The evening was concluded with yet another excellent meal, enjoyed in the most convivial atmosphere, where the usual Toasts were honoured.
